OPI The Man with the Golden Gun Swatch

15 Nov

Okay guys, here it is! As promised: OPI’s¬†18K gold flake top coat The Man with the Golden Gun. When I first picked up the box, I thought “Wow, this is a lot smaller than I expected…” Which is crazy cause it’s the exact same size as any other OPI bottle, but I just built up so much excitement about it, I guess I imagined it bigger in my mind. Anyway, onto the pictures! I must warn you though, this post will be a little picture heavy… ūüôā

I decided to pair this up with OPI¬†Danke-Shiny Red because it’s the perfect…. well, shiny red! It’s probably my second favorite red ever (first being China Glaze Ruby Pumps!) Danke-Shiny Red is from OPI’s Fall 2012 Germany Collection and I have fallen in love with it, even more after seeing it under The Man with the Golden Gun.

Front shot of the box it came in.

Top of the box. The box opens from the front and kinda.. swings up? You’ll see in a second, but that’s why there is¬†the crease in the middle.

Here the back of the box. It just tells you (in English and French) what it is and kind of how to use it.

That last picture is totally my favorite! But I totally love how metallic the bottle is. I’m still not sure whether I want to keep this polish in its box¬†and put it next to my polish racks or put it in with the regular OPI bottles.

I am so in love with both of these polishes! Red and gold is such a pretty color combo, especially now that the holidays are fast approaching! Please excuse the little mark on my index finger, I was opening something right after I did my nails and screwed it up ūüė¶ But the formula on these both were great. 2 coats of each polish here. The red went on super easily, just like any other polish. The gold top coat was a little hard to work with, you kind of had to develop your own little tricks to getting this on. The problem is that the flakes are small so you have to try to get enough flakes without getting too much clear top coat. It’s super easy to “learn”¬†though. Also, I would just like to point out that the Danke-Shiny Red is more true to its color in the last picture.

Zoya Limited Edition Guilty Pleasures Trio

26 Sep

Yesterday I posted a preview of Zoya’s Winter 2012 collection. Turns out they have another collection coming out around the same time! It’s called the Guilty Pleasures Gift Box Trio.

It comes with 3¬†full size¬†(.5 oz) bottles. The first is a black color called Raven, on the Zoya website it is described as a satiny black with subtle silver shimmer. In this picture though, it just looks black. The other base color is a basic white called Purity. It’s just a pure white, no hint of shimmer or anything. Then, there is the most important part¬†of this box, the 18K gold flake top coat, Guilty.

You can preorder it here. It costs $30, which actually isn’t too bad, considering other gold top coats sell for just as much for only 1 bottle, while this one comes with three. It’s like paying $10 for each polish, or buying just the gold top coat for a “normal” price, and getting 2 free! ūüôā

IMPORTANT NOTE!: If you want this awesome deal, preorder it NOW. Zoya says on their website that once the presell is all sold out, they’re done selling it, for good (due to the scarcity of gold). Also, you will not be charged for it until it actually ships to you on October 15, 2012.

China Glaze I Herd That

6 Aug

As I mentioned in the last post, I picked up this polish from the On Safari Collection the other day. This one is a beautiful gold and copper glitter, with a small amount of holo glitter. It’s not nearly as holographic as I’m Not Lion (from the same collection.)

There’s barely¬†any holo¬†in this unless it’s in direct sunlight, and even then it is hard to see. If you look at the bottle, it looks like it’s mostly copper with a little bit of gold glitter. On the nail, it’s almost the opposite. Maybe it’s just that the gold stands out more but I think it’s a lot more gold on the nail than it is in the bottle.

You can see the holo¬†a lot better in this picture, on the nail and in the bottle. When I took this picture, I had been wearing this polish for about 12 hours and you can already see the slight chipping on the tip of¬†my ring finger. Also, I didn’t like this formula. It was slightly gloppy. Although the coverage was great. This is 2 coats.

If I had to choose between I’m Not Lion and I Herd That, I would choose I’m Not Lion. Although, part of that might be because I’m not a huge fan of gold ūüôā

China Glaze I’m Not Lion Swatch

4 Aug

There is nothing that I love more than a really beautiful glitter polish. Especially if it’s a holo. So when I saw the 2 glitters in China Glaze’s new¬†On Safari Collection, I knew they had to be mine. So I went to my local Ulta and picked up¬†I’m Not Lion and I Herd That. Haha, China Glaze has such cute puns. I’ll eventually swatch I Herd That but today, I present you I’m Not Lion:

Wow, look at all that glitter *_* It looks like a perfect mix of gold and silver glitter so that on the nail, it looks like a champagne gold color. And a really beautiful holo effect too. In the sunlight the silver really comes out along with the beauty of the holo.

You can see the holo a little¬†better in this picture, but my camera doesn’t show holo well.

Wow, this color is so beautiful. I usually paint my nails everyday but I loved this color so much I wore it for 2 days. The formula on this was perfect, nice and smooth. Some glitters and holos will dull down a lot once you put a top coat on but this one¬†got 10 times¬†more beautiful.¬†And since it’s mostly just glitter, it dried super fast. I used 3 coats but I got full coverage in 2 coats.

I’m completely in love with this color. If you don’t own this color already, go to Ulta and pick it up or order off the internet or something. It’s totally worth it.
