Orly Torrid Swatch

30 Sep

The other day I ordered a couple things from TransDesign and i found a set of 3 Orly polishes from their Naughty or Nice Collection. It came with Torrid (a shimmer darkish red), Halo (champagne/silver glitter), and Devil May Care which is red and gold glitter. As much as I love glittery polishes, the one that kept catching my eye was Torrid!

It looks super dark in this picture, but it’s not too dark in real life. It’s a scarlet red that’s super shimmery. Very classy. 🙂

It was a great formula. It dries fast and is very opaque. This is 2 coats and of course a top coat. I love this red! Probably my second favorite red that I own (first is China Glaze Ruby Pumps.) Even my mom said that it’s her favorite red 🙂 Then again, she says that about basically every red I wear…

China Glaze Harvest Moon Swatch

10 Sep

Hey guys! I’m glad I finally get to post something new! I’ve had lots of trouble with my camera lately so I haven’t had a chance to swatch some stuff, but, today I have a swatch of something I love!

That is China Glaze’s Harvest Moon from the Hunger Games that was released this Spring. My birthday’s in March so for my birthday I received this entire collection! They were actually the first China Glaze colors that I owned. I guess 12 isn’t a bad start 🙂

Harvest Moon is an orange copper foil color. If you know anything about the Hunger Games, then I shall inform you that this color is based off of District 9, the grain district. This color is so perfect for fall! And super shiny 🙂

I have only worn this color once before, and I can’t remember why, it’s so gorgeous! The only problem is the formula, it went on super nice, but then it took forever to dry. Even with my fast drying top coat, I kept denting it all night! Also, it was kinda hard to take off, just because it’s so shimmery and metallic. But it’s so worth it because this color is gorgeous 🙂

OPI Designer Series Magic

29 Aug

It still amazes me that this is the first OPI polish I’ve posted. It is the brand that I have the most of in my collection (34 bottles!) and it’s definitely my favorite! This is OPI Magic, one of the three Designer Series bottles I own. I’ve seen many swatches of the other DS colors, and none of them really stood out to me. This was my favorite but I was still kinda “Meh…” about it.

I actually ordered this from Transdesign.com when I ordered my 3rd polish rack, so it was only $7.50 (but shipping was crazy expensive!) Even when I saw it in the bottle I wasn’t too stoked to wear it. I think it has something to do with the shimmer. I love purple, but the purple shimmer in this just doesn’t move me. Anyway, I put this on for the first time ever the other day and I really regret not trying it earlier.

I have no words for this besides “wow….” It’s probably one of the most beautiful colors I own. I got compliments for the past 2 days so I guess I’m not the only one who likes it 🙂  It’s almost like a dark blue foil almost. In the shade, it does have a slight purple shimmer. It has a great formula too, this is 3 coats. I tried it with 2 and though it was full coverage but I put another coat on to fix it 🙂 The clean up around my nails was super easy too. Hopefully this means that it will be easy to remove!

China Glaze I Herd That

6 Aug

As I mentioned in the last post, I picked up this polish from the On Safari Collection the other day. This one is a beautiful gold and copper glitter, with a small amount of holo glitter. It’s not nearly as holographic as I’m Not Lion (from the same collection.)

There’s barely any holo in this unless it’s in direct sunlight, and even then it is hard to see. If you look at the bottle, it looks like it’s mostly copper with a little bit of gold glitter. On the nail, it’s almost the opposite. Maybe it’s just that the gold stands out more but I think it’s a lot more gold on the nail than it is in the bottle.

You can see the holo a lot better in this picture, on the nail and in the bottle. When I took this picture, I had been wearing this polish for about 12 hours and you can already see the slight chipping on the tip of my ring finger. Also, I didn’t like this formula. It was slightly gloppy. Although the coverage was great. This is 2 coats.

If I had to choose between I’m Not Lion and I Herd That, I would choose I’m Not Lion. Although, part of that might be because I’m not a huge fan of gold 🙂

Zoya Sarah Swatch

3 Aug

Today for you guys I have a lovely polish I picked up at Ulta the other day – Zoya Sarah. It came out with the Fire and Ice Collection for Winter 2010.

It’s a beautiful deep red shimmer. In the bottle there is a little bit of a copper shimmer also, but that didn’t show up on the nail.

It makes perfect sense that this was released with a holiday collection, because this is the perfect Christmas red! So beautiful and shimmery. It’s almost like a red foil color, so pretty!  It reminded me a lot of China Glaze’s Ruby Pumps but a little pinker instead of dark red. It’s pretty opaque too, I only used 2 coats in this picture.

All in all, I think this is a super gorgeous polish and a good addition to my collection 😀
